Dear Parents,
I want to start by thanking you for your patience in what has been a difficult week. The government have made several announcements this week which changes the picture regarding isolation for confirmed Covid cases and close contact cases.
To begin with, the isolation period for confirmed Covid cases has been reduced from 14 days to 10 days with automatic issue of a recovery certificate after the tenth day. This means now that if you have registered or been registered as a Covid case, you will automatically receive your recovery certificate on, or just after the tenth day.
Pupils will need to show this upon their return to school.
From Monday, the ‘test to stay’ scheme will be implemented in schools across Cyprus for close contacts identified from Monday 24th January onwards. The Ministry have said that this change is not retrospective and that students already isolating as a close contact will need to follow the previous rules that state seven days isolation, a rapid test on day 3 and day 5 and PCR test on day 7, and if negative return to school on day 8. The new arrangements should reduce any further disruption to the education of our pupils.
On a happier note, the number of new cases in school has dropped significantly this week and we hope that the testing in the coming week will return us to no new cases.
I hope you all have a good weekend and I’ll see you on Monday.
Kind regards,
David Lewis
Principal

The school has subscribed to the children’s news magazine The Week Junior and a digital subscription is now available to all TLC children.
The Week magazine is a UK based publication that summarises the week’s news and events from around the world and The Week Junior makes this information accessible for children aged 7 to 14.
To access the free digital version, download the The Week Junior app from Apple’s App Store or Android Google Play. Open the app and click on the settings icon (Three vertical dots) in the top right corner. Then click on Account then Existing Subscriptions and enter the code 001212024901.
You will be taken to the current issue page and can also view past issues. Each week, the new issue is automatically distributed late on a Friday or early Saturday morning and can be downloaded to your device. The magazine also contains puzzles and a weekly news quiz that will help you know how thoroughly your child has read the magazine.

We hope that you will encourage your child to read the magazine each week. All the children who took part in the trial of the magazine, loved it and now read it avidly each week. The information will help your child become more aware of what is happening in the world and how it affects them.
Please contact us if you have any difficulties.
