Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents,
It appears that the winter season is trying to put up its last fight before it is able to relent to summer. In this procession of interwoven weather patterns, the school campus has been sizzling with activity.
Firstly, our primary school had an incredibly successful maths day. The highlight of the day was a performance by our very own rock band, Partior Congero, consisting of four of our talented teachers, Maria Outram, Hannah Abel, Clare Hurrell and Kemal Cullen. They entertained our students with some amazing numbers, pun intended. Our Year 1 to 6 students participated in activities such as helping the band tour the world, creating musical instruments, and designing album covers. It was a day filled with fun and learning.
We would also like to congratulate Nicole Yachin from Reception Class who took part in an international gymnastics competition in Jordan and obtained first place. We are incredibly proud of her achievements.
In addition, our secondary students and Year 6 class had the opportunity to attend a webinar by Emma Sadlier on the dangers of cyberbullying and what the law says. Emma has kindly made a video available for our parents to watch that provides more information on what parents should know. We strongly encourage you to engage with this content and arm yourself with the knowledge needed to protect our children in this ever-changing world. Please click on the following link to get access to this very important webinar https://youtu.be/gbkLtrA9JhU
Our KS3 students also made us proud with their fantastic effort, excellent behaviour, and display of character. Mykola Botsyura in Year 8 came 6th in the 600m event, Danylo Kasyanchuk Year 9 also came 6th in the 1000m race, and Marc Hotz in Year 9 came 3rd in his heat. Overall, Marc finished in the top 6 through the multiple heats. Well done to all of them!
The Friends of TLC group’s planning for the Easter fair is well underway, and Miss Hurrell’s musical preparations are also progressing well. We were thrilled with the amazing turnout at the meet the parents event organized by the Friends of TLC association. The coffee was good, and the committee did an amazing job.
Mr. Kemal will be starting a new vocal institute where children will have the opportunity to explore their vocal abilities, learn harmonies, and build self-confidence via solo and group performances, all within a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, should you wish to enquire further about this please contact Mr Kem directly.
Lastly, there has been a fantastic relationship formed between TLC and Minthis Golf Club. They have, from the 3rd of May, secured a dedicated hour for TLC students and a parent to participate in this fantastic sport. We have sought to try and create a time where parents can connect and learn a sport, such as golf, with their children. We have considered work timings and costs and are happy to present to you that on a Wednesday afternoon from 5pm to 6pm, TLC students, along with a parent will receive coaching by a PGA Tour Professional. The cost is €60 per month (€40 per additional child) and this includes the parent and the child receiving a lesson, as a group, on the driving range. It is also inclusive of all range balls and equipment. We hope that this will be well received and will be the beginning of many a young golfer’s career and some quality parent child time in the future on this majestic course.
As we approach the exam period, we encourage our students to use their time wisely and wish them all the best. Have a wonderful weekend!
Kind regards,
Justin van Zyl
Principal

OTHER NEWS

An introduction to The Day
The Day is a rich and engaging online educational resource that turns news into lessons across five differentiated reading levels.
It provides schools with unlimited access to activities that bring big global issues into the classroom through daily news written in-house, polls, videos, images, graphics, posters, translations and links for external guided research.
We engage all learners and inspire comprehension through challenging, rich texts, experiential learning, project work and the acquisition of core knowledge about the real world.
By making connections between current affairs and the curriculum, we encourage students to become more actively engaged in their studies and more inquisitive, enabling them to develop cultural capital and the skills they need to be successful in the modern world and ethical, informed citizens.
We believe that investigating what is true and exposing misinformation enables people to make good choices and fulfil their potential.
We work towards a world where young people everywhere learn how to become ambitious, capable learners, ask good questions, debate the issues, listen to others and develop a powerful voice in shaping a better future.
