Let’s Make Cyprus Green

TLC Private School’s Key Stage 3 students are focusing on pollution of the sea in art this term. As part of the topic and its significance, students set off on Wednesday morning for a beach clean-up initiative with their Art teacher, Ms Zoe. The initiative was in association with ‘Let’s Make Cyprus Green’ a registered NGO which works hard to spread awareness to the public regarding the negative human impacts on the planet, in particular, the harm done by excessive waste and the use of plastic.

Our students were shocked with the amount of rubbish they uncovered, including two televisions, old rattan furniture, and several shoes and flip flops. At the end of the 2 hour sweep, the rubbish collected was separated into recycling and rubbish. The rubbish was collected by Kissonerga village council.

Recyclable items recovered will be used in various art projects in school. Students will be tasked to create a fish from plastic bottles and will construct an outdoor display; a shoal of plastic fish for our new art room!

Thank you to ‘Let’s Make Cyprus Green’s Rosalyn and Dr Sparrow amd Kissonerga Council for your support! A very well done to our students, teachers and a special thanks to our Art teacher, Ms Zoe for organising this initiative.
